• Logitrans will provide the setting for the staging of the Iberian Logistics Conference and the Spanish-French Business Forum on Transport Infrastructures, among other activities
• The event will revolve around a forum for the exchange of ideas and know-how
With a view to strengthening the fair's vocation as a useful tool for the industry and in view of the current climate of austerity and cost-cutting on the part of companies, the organisers of LOGITRANS have decided to cater for current needs by cancelling the exhibition and focusing their efforts on an event aimed at the logistics and transport industry based exclusively on the promotion of analysis and know-how regarding this field. In this respect, the fair, which is due to take place at Feria de Madrid on 21st and 22nd April 2010, will host the staging of two important events, featuring the participation of some highly prominent speakers: the Iberian Logistics Conference and the Second Spanish-French Business Forum on Transport Infrastructures. Both events will channel the interest of different professional groups and members of the industry to have their own business forum and meeting-point in Madrid.
Consequently, LOGITRANS, the Madrid Logistics and Transport Forum, will not feature an exhibition area at this edition, although it will facilitate the attendance of companies and institutions through specific networking and sponsorship programmes.
The Iberian Logistics Conference
The Iberian Logistics Conference, coordinated by A.T. Kearney, will take place on 21st April, based on the following theme: "Advanced Strategies in Logistics and Transport 2010-2020". On this occasion, the Conference will be structured around four blocks of sessions, which will focus on questions such as the following: trends within the supply chain and the strategies of logistical operators within Europe; inter-modal trends regarding the transport of merchandise; and the new competitive market that is beginning to emerge at Iberian ports and airports.
As a new feature, the Conference will feature a marked Iberian flavour, based on a strong level of representation on the part of the most important Portuguese companies and institutions, who have been invited to take part in the programme.
The Second Spanish-French Business Forum on Transport Infrastructures
Following the success of the first edition, the Association, DIÁLOGO, will organise the Second Forum on 22nd April, based on the following theme: "Inter-Modal Links between France and Spain: Challenge or Reality?".
This Forum, whose aim is to review the situation relating to merchandise transport between the Iberian Peninsula and France, will serve as a key meeting-place for all professionals from the industry. On this occasion, the event will grant special importance to the railways, featuring a series of special debates on large-scale Trans-Pyrenean railway projects. The Forum will also address sea transport and road transport links.
In the same way as the first edition, this Second Spanish-French Forum will compile the conclusions reached within a White Paper, which will help to prepare for future Spanish-French Summits on these questions, providing the analysis and opinions of the private sector regarding a series of key issues. This meeting is organised by Diálogo and enjoys wide-ranging institutional backing, including the cooperation of the French Embassy in Spain, the French-Spanish Chamber of Commerce and Industry; Invest in France Agency (AFII); the newspaper, "Transporte XXI" and Ubifrance.
In addition to these events, other activities will be carried out, such as those organised by CEL, the Spanish Logistics Centre. Among these we might highlight the organisation of a roundtable on safety and security within the supply chain and the presentation of a portal on best practices within e-lean manufacturing. For its part, Fundación ICIL will coordinate a conference on "Value and Cost Trends", as well as a roundtable on the property market specialising in logistics.
