The Salon du Chocolat, the largest worldwide event devoted to chocolate, was created in 1994 by Sylvie Douce and François Jeantet. Since then, the organising company, Event International, has staged more than 60 editions in 7 different countries, focusing on the leading cities throughout the world: 15 editions in Paris, 12 editions in New York, 14 in Japan in seven different cities (including Tokyo, Kyoto and Nagoya), 3 editions in Moscow, 2 in China ... In total, some 3 million visitors around the world have attended the fair and more than 1,000 recipes have been created by the most famous chefs within the culinary field.
Master chocolate-makers, confectioners, ice-cream-makers, farmers, producing countries and cacao processing companies, together with all and any associated products, have helped to make the Salon du Chocolat the most renowned and successful event of its kind in the world since 1995.
Chocolate is a cultural product that is closely associated with the idea of pleasure and the Salon du Chocolat, which targets members of the public of all ages and any social class and professional category, is one of the few events of its kind devoted to promoting an image of quality, satisfaction and happiness.
Three million visitors throughout the world have passed through the doors of the fair's different editions. Some attend the event in order to discover the fascinating world of chocolate, others to get together with colleagues and other members of the trade or to discover the latest new features on the market. Still others attend the fair for the simple pleasure of sampling the best chocolates in the world. These visitors, all of whom share a passion for chocolate, can be broken down as follows: 42% are women, 40% are men and 18% are budding young gourmets. They include members of the trade, the general public, families with children and other young consumers.
The Salon du Chocolat is associated with a series of spectacular fashion parades at which companies such as Lancel, Massaro, Cacharel, Nina Ricci, Cerruti, Agatha Ruiz de la Prada and Balmain have designed a series of astonishing outfits made of chocolate. Culinary demonstrations, workshops for both adults and children, choco-therapy, colloquiums, sampling sessions and conferences will all divulge the secrets of the world of chocolate, endowing this flavoursome event with a sweet and exclusive appeal. The fair also attracts the attention of the media, with more than 2,500 members of the press requesting accreditation each year.
